Sourdough Garlic Knots are a delicious way to turn your homemade sourdough dough into soft, buttery, and flavorful bites. Perfect as a side for pasta, soups, or just as a snack, these knots are brushed with garlic butter and baked until golden brown. Using sourdough adds a subtle tang and extra depth of flavor, making these garlic knots tender, pillowy, and utterly irresistible.

Ingredients:

  • 4 1/2c – 550g flour
  • 1 1/3c – 300g water
  • 1t salt
  • 1T sugar
  • 2T olive oil or butter

How to make Sourdough Garlic Knots

Add everything to a bowl and knead with a stand mixer for 20 minutes.

Cover and let the dough rest until it’s risen twice its size. If you are baking in the cooler months (below 65 degrees), recreate a warm environment by placing the dough into the oven with the light turned on or on the stovetop if you are baking.

Once the dough has risen, turn out the dough onto a floured surface and divide it into 8 equal parts.

Shape each piece of dough by rolling it under your palms until it’s about a foot long.

Tie it into a loose knot by looping the dough over itself and tucking the ends under and through the center. Tuck the other end underneath the knot. Make sure not to pull the knot too tight, or it will tighten further while baking and lose its soft, fluffy texture. Place each knot on a baking sheet, leaving a little space between them to allow for expansion, and brush with garlic butter or olive oil before baking for extra flavor.

Bake at 425 for 15 minutes.

Cool for 15 minutes before serving.

Save it for later…
